Volunteering is a great way to stay involved in your child’s school, and teachers are always appreciative of the help. If you are interested in volunteering, please read the important information below.
All volunteers who plan to volunteer more than one time during the school year (excludes special event helpers or guest presenters) must have an application on file as well as a background check completed (paid for by the District). Applications and forms are available in the volunteer packet below and need to be returned to the volunteer coordinator…you can simply send them to the school office, and they will make sure it gets to the right place. Once the background check clears (usually takes a week), the coordinator will do a quick orientation to go over the guidelines and procedures, as required by the District. Any returning volunteers from the previous academic year do NOT need to complete those steps again.
Volunteers log their hours in the volunteer log book in the main office. Hours are totaled each semester and submitted to the Community Outreach Coordinator, District Admin and the School Board to demonstrate parent and community involvement in our schools.
Volunteers can help in classrooms as Room Parent, tutoring individual students or small groups (reading, writing, math, etc), organizing or working at PTA events, counting Box Tops, making copies, even working on things for the classroom at home. Any time spent helping the school is considered volunteer hours and may be recorded in the volunteer log. PTA meetings do NOT count.
